What is Sober Living Network?

It is another challenge to find the right sober living home for the newly recovered person, but worth the effort. Some treatment centers have a sober living as part of their program.  That was our experience, so it felt rather seamless. If not the treatment center should be able to give you some recommendations of sober living homes that they recommend.

Jeff Christensen, project director, has sent the following information regarding Sober Living Network which is another resource in Southern California.

“The Sober Living Network is a southern California based non-profit whose mission is to expand, enhance, and protect quality sober living homes.  We are a 100% volunteer organization that is divided up into county coalitions and sub-divided into local chapters.  We currently have coalitions in five southern California counties and are working on setting up two more. We are working with some homes in Fresno and even as far north as Sacramento, but have not yet been able to figure out how to get Statewide without additional
funding of some sort.

We have over 550 homes that our members of our organization who voluntarily
submit to annual inspections for quality control, receive training, attend
local coalition meetings to learn best practices, and are pro-active in
their communities to not only be good members, but to advocate for quality
sober living.  We are strong supporters of social model recovery (also known
as 12-step recovery) and believe that living in a sober environment with
peers supporting your recovery is as important as any step in the sustained
recovery of an individual.

Our website www.soberhousing.net is the #1 website for sober livings in the
country and many of our homes receive numerous referrals from the website.
Also, major health care organizations visit our website more than any other
institution month in and month out.

We are working hard to expand our organization’s structure to all of
California, so please stay tuned and check our website to see where we go
from here.

Please call or e-mail anytime if you have further questions.”

My son went to sober living after treatment and the length of time away from his former environment made all the difference in his recovery.

      Hi Kate,
I agree. I think living in a new location helped my daughter as well. Thanks.

This can be anyone within your community that has the knowledge and capability to address your problem..If you choose to be inside a sober living environment you must conclude that it can provide all of the necessities in life just to be sober. Stay away from people or events that may trigger a relapse..Living a sober life is difficult but all the way possible if only you will recognize the importance of it in your recovery and to defeat relapses and slight episode manifestations.

Good points in your comment. Living a sober life is a challenge for any addict and yes, anyone in the community can be of help. For some, sober living is very helpful, for others, doing in their own environment works just as well.

  3. Vera House Sober Living has been in existence in Hemet CA since April of 2003. Vera House is a serious sober living home implementing a zero tolerance policy. If you are serious about your sobriety and would like to live with other men who are like-minded concerning sobriety please consider Vera House as your future home. The success rate for rehabilitation from addictions to alcohol and drugs is greatly increased by completing a rehab program and then residing in a good sober living home.

Jeff Christensen is a great guy, and expends a huge amount of energy helping sober livings get off the ground. I quit a 20 year career on Wall Street to do this too, and have owned and operated sober livings. Other than the Southern California coalition there are not many organizations that present sober livings in an organized manner. My idea and goal has been to present users with a site that gives them a visual look at any sober living in the country, where they can search using a geography based engine and pick whether they want to search from a 5 -50 mile radius from a certain point. We have alot of general sober living knowledge also and a great blog — so stop by and visit!.Make finding a house easy at Sober Living Halfway House Search. Our URL is soberlivingsearch.com and we have 5000 houses listed.
