Do you feel alone with addiction?
I know I did. Whether it is your addiction, or another family member’s disease, addiction can feel very isolating. The stigma of addiction keeps us from sharing and receiving the help and resources that we need.
As you watch these videos below remember that according to USC research on addiction, in any given year 47 percent of the U.S. adult population will suffer from some type of addiction. From that statistic alone, it is clear that this is an epidemic that is shared by many families.
Videos can quickly give a clear message in a user-friendly way. A video can educate, engage or entertain. My goal this year to get over my fear and do more videos, so I have included my first video for the new year below.
You will also find eleven other amazing videos with important information about the dangers of substance abuse and addiction as well as a little humor and music to remind you as we start 2012 that you are not alone on this journey. We are all in this together, side by side as we walk this path together.

Hi Cathy,
A very Happy New Year to you!!
Dealing with addiction is not easy. This is especially so when we feel alone. It is that much harder to continue a struggle against addiction or any form of adversity when we feel alone. Our strengths after all has its limits.
This is why I am glad you shared this article because it reminds us that there are others out there who face the same struggles.
Including videos are indeed a great way to get a point across and make an article different. I am glad you overcame your fear about posting videos.
Thank you for sharing this lovely article!

Hi Irving,
I do believe that the stigma of addiction keeps people from sharing with others and promotes denial. The more aware people are that others are also suffering from this disease will help promote healing for all. There are many informational videos out there to share information, so hopefully people will watch at least one or two and learn something new. We know that there is support out there for those that need it.
Powerful collection here, Cathy. I especially love Robin Williams humor. Sometimes comedy exposes the truth in wonderfully refreshing and enlightening way. I do believe maintaining a sense of humor is one of the most empowering ways to endure the darkest times.

Hi Rob,
i agree, we need to laugh to break the stress and realize that we are all human and make mistakes. I’ve seen so many parents who seem shell shocked when their kids are in the midst of their addiction, but as time goes on, with support from others, they begin to relax a little which is much healthier for them.
Wow! What a powerful collection you’ve pulled together. Thank you so much! And, as you said, knowing that you are not alone can be very powerful for both the addict/alcoholic and their loved ones. Wishing you all the best for 2012 and thank you for all of your excellent posts. Lisa

Hi Debbie,
I decided this year that my goal was to make more videos, so I thought it’s good to get started right away and see how it goes. Humor does help in many situations, and just knowing that there are others in the same situation helps.
What a comprehensive list of videos. Thanks so much for providing those!
