Are you feeling gratitude this Thanksgiving?
I know I am.
This is the week to be grateful. Hopefully we are grateful every week. I’ve thought about what I am grateful for. After talking to some parents of addicted children and hearing their story, I am reminded of how truly lucky I am.
My family has survived the disease of addiction, and this holiday season I will be able to enjoy my children’s company. I will be forever grateful.
Our hearts go out to those families who are missing their children on this Thanksgiving Day. Our thoughts are with you and know that you are not alone.
My hope is that in years to come awareness and education will spread, and our teens will choose to live a healthy lifestyle, and avoid this devastating disease.
Reach out to families struggling with the disease of addiction. The holidays can be a wonderful time, filled with love and joy, but they can also bring up painful memories. Pause for a moment this Thanksgiving Day and give a thought to the families whose children lost the battle with the disease of addiction.
No matter what our situation is, we can all find something to be grateful for.
I’d like to share these nine inspiring gratitude quotes this Thanksgiving.
1. “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~Melody Beattie
2. “Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.” ~Seneca
3. “Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.” ~Christine Northrup
4. “There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.” ~Ralph H. Blum
5. “God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?” ~William A. Ward
6. “Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone.” ~G.B. Stern
7. “Gratitude is the memory of the heart.” ~Jean Baptiste Massieu, translated from French
8. “Gratitude is the best attitude.” ~Author Unknown
9. “Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.” ~Henry Ward Beecher
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, hug your loved ones and thank YOU for your amazing support.
Be Well,
Cathy

Hi Lisa,
Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that I love because it’s not about things, it’s about family, friends, and giving thanks. What could be better than that? Thanks for your comment and have a wonderful holiday.

Thanks for this reminder, Cathy. It’s a good one, especially for those of us with young children who haven’t yet hit some of the really hard things that can happen as our children grow. I love quote #5.
Missy | The Literal Mom recently posted..A Different Kind of Thanks
Hi Missy,
I love that quote as well. This is wonderful that you are reading the information BEFORE your child hits the teen years. If more moms like you, would do that I think we’d all have a much better handle on the problem. Parents cannot 100% prevent their child from substance abuse and addiction, but they can go a long way in helping their kids make healthy choices during their teen years. Thanks for your comment.

Gratitude is not learned from school, it is from the heart. A grateful heart is a contented and not an envious heart.

We always have to be thankful for what we have every single day. When we are greatful and show gratitude, abundance flows to us and we achieve inner peace as well. What a great way to show our gratitude for what we have and for the world in general. Thanks for sharing

Hi Dia,
Your words are so true. Each day should be Thanksgiving in our hearts. The gratitude list helps me, as well as just acknowledging how grateful I am for all that I have in my life. We all have things to be grateful for if we just notice.. Our daily gratitude can begin by being thankful for our first morning breath. Thanks for your comment.
